A Report on the Repression of the Peaceful Uprising of the Saharawi Population in Assa, South Morocco

Assa, south Morocco, has witnessed a peaceful uprising of the Sahrawi population on Wednesday, June 22nd, 2005 at 18:30 in solidarity with the Intifada victims in El Ayun, Western Sahara and calling for an international committee to investigate in the crimes against humanity perpetrated by the Moroccan state against the Sahrawi demonstrators since May 21st, 2005.
Having gathered in the human rights activist, Ali Salem’s Square, the Sahrawi masses were chanting pro-independence slogans, holding the SADR flags, calling for the pulling out of the Moroccan state from the Western Sahara and demanding the release of the Sahrawi political prisoners, headed by the human rights activist, Aminatou Haidar.
